An unexpected spawning is one of the most exciting surprises an aquarium enthusiast can experience. The blue diamond male and blue floral turquoise female met a couple of weeks before in my community tank. They soon started courtship and laid eggs before I was able to transfer them to a separate tank.
This caused a lot of excitement in the community tank. The male aggressively defended the area adjacent to the filter tubing where the eggs were laid. Three days later, he was, unfortunately, not able to defend the hatching eggs against the not-so-innocent cardinals.
